A Family Tradition

A few years ago we started a blessing jar family tradition. Throughout the entire year, we write down things or events for which we are thankful and stuff them in the jar. Then on Thanksgiving Day, we empty the jar and read aloud all the reminders of God’s faithfulness. It’s a great way to reflect on the previous year and so fun to read the variety of entries. We’ve had everything from defeating serious health issues to thanking God for McDonalds. Albeit on very different scopes; both are worthy praises.

It’s been such a wonderful way to instill a sense of gratitude in our children.

Do you have a favorite family tradition that’s centered around Thanksgiving? If not, why not give the blessings jar a try. It makes for some really awesome Thanksgiving Day reading.

Hope you and your family have a wonderful and blessed holiday!

  1. Deena-I love your blessing jar, sounds like a wonderful family tradition. I have been slow at reading my emails and just now opening this and the previous one about Black Friday shopping. There just seems to be too many things going on…I’m sure not as many as you with three children and a DH. Thanks for the awesome idea, might just have to try this one!!
